Preseason Training 2019

Training for all senior teams will start Tuesday January 22nd at 6:30pm

2019 Senior Mens Coach

The current committee has endorsed the appointment of club stalwart Glenn “Otis” Reading to the senior coaching role. Glenn brings to this role over 40 years of playing experience. In addition to this, he has been involved in coaching for many years, most recently with a group of talented juniors, some of whom have stepped up to into the senior club this past season. Glenn is in talks with some senior players who have previously played with United and is even looking outside of the state for a “marquee” player. It is envisaged this player will not only support the senior playing group, but will also add to the junior development programs already established by the club. Junior development is a main component of Glenn’s long-term philosophy, along with a simplified game plan and an exciting and varied training regime.

2019 Senior Womens Coach

The women’s senior team will see Greg Duffy continue in his coaching role for a second season. They were the highest goal-scoring team in any Northern competition this year with 107 goals and a goal difference of 85, which similarly is the highest amongst all competitions. Greg has an attack-style philosophy, building on the strength and speed of some of his younger players. He is looking forward to an all-club approach to pre-season training next year, where he can build endurance into his charges and ensure integration of all players into the club ethos.

2019 Reserves Coach

Our senior coach Glenn will be supported by United’s games record holder, Ian Calcraft. Ian has played over 500 games across a span of 35 years at the club and will be coach of the Reserves team. He will add his depth of knowledge to a side built around experience, with a smattering of youth, in an attempt to introduce younger players into the senior ranks.

2019 Under 18's Coach

Mark Littlechild has come across from Riverside Olympic to take on the reigns of the club’s U18s. Mark has a long history in senior soccer at Riverside. He has coached Northern under-age representative teams for 4 years and has children playing at United. He has keenly observed many of the juniors over the last few years and is excited at the prospect of continuing to develop the young talent at the club. Along with Glenn, Mark will be implementing a game style to compliment the senior structure, allowing seamless transition for the top juniors to progress through the ranks.

2019 Goalkeeping Coach

Gallagher Innis takes on the role of Goalkeeping coach. This specific role is generally overlooked by many clubs, however is probably one of the most important positions on the ground. Gallagher has played this position for several clubs and brings a large amount of experience to help raise the skill level of our goalkeepers. His individualised training programs will ensure the senior goalkeepers are at their peak and allow the other coaches to work on team skills and structures.
